Re: Muskeg 2 . MEDICINE WHEELS FOUND

Cool finds, what kind of signal did that awl give (iron, foil, etc.)?

Did Dave try to kill you again?

Re: Muskeg 2 . MEDICINE WHEELS FOUND

That awl is awesome but I have no idea what a medicine wheel is...

Re: Muskeg 2 . MEDICINE WHEELS FOUND

Nope :icon_thumleft:Dave didn't try to kill me , yet he didn't warn me about the Bull Moose :icon_scratch:.

The Awl gave a Iffy signal , those ones ya gatta dig. And a Medicine Wheel is a Native Symbol to protect

the Band.

wicked hardy..even as a kiwi kid growing up cowboys and injuns were the go..now im all growed up and still facinated by what you guys get...would they have hand forged them out of iron or sort of carved them out of a plate...cheers des

Now you're talkin'. I always wanted to try out one of those.

What are the medicine wheels made of. I dug something like that at a colonial site and have no idea what it could be. I saw another and the guy said it had something to do with leather on horse tack but I didn't believe that.

I'm interested to know the answer too. Very interesting finds.

I grew up (sort of ;D ) same as Des, for some years close by, in Waiouru; we had our own Desert to play in and Cowboys and Indian movies were our movie favourites. Except there was Tarzan too and ......

These ones are made out of lead and or pewter. I have to make a solution to stabilize any deterioration that may happen,

tomorrow I will search for the missing fragments :icon_thumleft:

Yeap, dug Bronze Age & Roman Awls used in exactly the same way for thousands of years :icon_thumright:

Medicine wheels came right at the end when you had to go. That is the site's way of inviting you back!
Hopefully you can find the other pieces. I can't understand why a famous brand of Metal detector doesn't pick up much on all metal mode. :icon_scratch: Cherry pickers! ::)
I put the Fisher on 2 for disc. and I can't even put the coil down without it beeping everywhere.
I can't wait until you get your Naughty this spring. I always wanted to try that puppy.
I guess I should stop typing and meet you out at the site!
Dave.

All I know is That Darn Spectrum must of Missed lots of Iron points cause I didnt even get a BEEP with a Point on the ground in

front of it :help:, good on the kettle points though :icon_scratch:
