Hi guys, I haven't posted in a while now, I've been VERY busy lately. About a week ago, I got the chance to hunt an old barn site. Lots and lots of iron. I pulled this out of the ground, and recognized it immediately. Musket lock plate? Now I just need to know what era or gun this might be from. THANK YOU!

If you can carefully clean off the rust, perhaps there is writing on it that will help with an ID. It's a lock plate for a percussion cap gun, but there isn't enough info to know it it's for a rifle, pistol, shotgun or musket.

Not trying to Hi-Jack the thread with my picture, but here is one I found last week, for comparison. This one is from a U S Springfield 186??DSCN1953.webp
