Went out today to deliver small display cases with a couple bullets in each for the landowners of two new sites I have been hunting, one of which gave my youngest son his first bullet!!! and then.. down the road a little, the next day his first eagle button!!!! He is pumped!! So, neither family was home so I started hunting in a wooded area... and hour or so and nothing to show for it except a few shotgun shells. So I went across the road to where I had dug a few bullets, NY button some odd brass and a pocket knife. All of this was up o a little knoll. I had hunted around the rest of the property and only found newer items or trash. I hunted the top a little but got bored with it... so I head down to the little creek for another try.. a medium amount trash, beer cans.. pull tops etc.. and then I got far enough away form the house it settled down to nothing... quiet.. tooo quiet.. then BAM!! Signal went off like a rocket! I had the V3i running pretty hot... and was using TX Boost... I dug a good size hole.. 7" or so deep, still in the hole and a powerful signal.. I went 3" or 4" more and there it was.. I was thinking "Plate, plate, plate" the whole time.. even though I am still learning the V3i it just had that sound about it!! I could not have asked for a better spot to dig a plate... it is a great piece of property... close mowing.. a nice little stream runs right through the middle.. just beautiful all around.. I think I have either tied or set a new record with 11, going to have to check.. either way with 2 1/2 months left in the year and having done a ton of research this summer.. I'm hoping to at least make it an even dozen!!

Update: I finally had a few minutes to clean the plate... before and after pics at bottom..

I found my first old coin today. 1917 D wheat penny. I was very excited. Anyone have any suggestions of good books for beginners?

OK now. You are having a BANNER year for plates! What a collection. It amazes me how you will hunt a new spot one time and find the ONLY plate left in that field!!! You got the Touch. That V3 is working overtime. When do I get to hit that field?! Awesome digs.

That is just double cool, MB!! I am, admittedly, quite jealous, but, I am very happy for you, as well. Here's hoping you get the "even dozen" very soon!!!

Some people have all the luck! Well done, would just like to find any plate at this time...hmmmmm maybe I did (to be continued)
a big congrats WTG :tongue3:

Holy smokes!!! :o :o :o
Congrats MB. Excellent job. :icon_thumleft:

Pretty dag gone impressive. 11 in one year, that must be what it was like to detect in the 80's :laughing9: Nice job man, I'm confident you'll snag a couple more before the year turns.

I am blown away ~ You are the Plate master Monkeyboy ! :notworthy: :notworthy: Go for the bakers dozen ! MaineRelic

Eleven plates.
In one year.
Eleven.
It's all about you, isn't it.
Eleven.
I've yet to even dig any of the "other stuff".
Eleven.
Amazing.

Just a kindly hint: You really should post this in the "Today's Finds" forum. This is rather lost in another's thread. Oh yeah, welcome to Treasure Net.

Now that is a good looking Halloween display. One plate left. Nice job very impressive.
