Spent a couple hours after work at an old vacant lot near an older school. Got a deep signal that was bouncing around in the upper 80s. Ground was very hard to dig and it crossed my mind to move on to the next hole. But then I moved a little more dirt and I saw something big and round shining back at me. Thought I'd found a Washington quarter but it seemed too big. Then I realized I had found my first Franklin half dollar - 1950 D. Made my day!

Congratulations on your first silver Half Nate! :occasion14:
Sometimes making the extra effort when digging does pay off!

Nice.

Good thing you decided to dig a bit deeper.
I always wonder when I abandon a hole if I left something really nice behind.

Excellent find. Congrats and welcome to the site.

I think most of us do. But can you imagine never leaving a signal, What would you never get to? I would love to find a nice half like this one.

Thanks for sharing a nice dig and those pictures

Great find!!! Congrats!

That's one awesome coin you have there! Still awaiting my first silver half.

Great find. It's hard to walk on a signal in 80s. Welcome to t net hope to see more good finds !!

my upper 80's today were all cans or chunks of cans, glad to see yours was something really nice! congrats on the super find

Big silver does not come along very often. Way to go! I hope you keep finding cool stuff and take the time to post them here. I have to tell you that I've NEVER found a silver half-- after many years trying. I did once get lucky and dug a 3-coin target of Morgan dollars, and it was one of my favorite recoveries ever.

Nice find! Many more to you
