Seems that for the past week, my 250 is reading pennies as dimes.....even in air tests! What is up with that? Anyone had/has that problem? Everything else is working fine, depth, PP'ing, dimes fall on dimes, quarters on quarters.....but pennies........well, my 250 might need glasses. Not a big deal, as I dig all coins with the exception of nickels.

Sometimes the calibration is off a tiny bit or something in the coil. I have one detector that reads a sq. pull tab as a penny.

You are making a mistake in not digging nickles an pull tabs. This is where 90% of the gold rings are located. True you have to recover a lot of pull tabs for a ring, but think how many other coins you have to dig to equal a gold ring.

Copper cents read as dimes on a lot of machines. Zinc cents will read lower. Your 250 is normal if this is how it's reading.
