I pretty much finally cleaned out that old baseball field I've been hunting the last 9 weekends. With the big 10 inch coil I only found 3 more wheat pennies and about $4.00 more in clad.

I did a little research and found a competely new park I never knew about and gave it a try. This small park is unusual, 90% of it is on about a 45 degree slope. This makes for difficult hunting trying to balance and swing at the same time. My reasearch paid off big! First good item dug was a sterling silver womans hair "thingy". Someone needs to help identify this? It's almost 3 inches long. My find for the day was a 1924-S standing liberty quarter! It was shallow, only 4 inches! Also dug up a 1942 mercury dime and 6 wheaties! One of the zinc penny readings turned out to be a old cigar token! Hit the park hard for about 5 hours, it's a relativie small area so I'm confident that most of the goddies have been removed, although you never get it all...

Nice diggs congrats

Nice! Does the Keller's Cigar Store token have anything on the reverse side?

John in the Great 208

Both sides are identical, I suspect it's a San Francisco token, but I'm not sure. Will need to do some researchon this....

Nice SLQ cool hand, damn good hunt...

It looks like the larger silver item was a brooch - I can see on one end where the pin finding used to be , Nice on the SLQ it actually
has some detail left !

Great stuff... Great stander!!!

Wowzers-what an awesome hunt!! I would have never guessed in a gazillion years, looking at that site, that there would have been anything of value to look for there! Kudos on the research, it certainly paid off! If you don't get an I.D. on your mystery silver item, move it over to the "what is it?" forum and start a thread there. I am excited as you are to see what that is. Great hunt, thanks for sharing...ddf

:occasion16::icon_flower::blob7::icon_flower::occasion16: Outstanding day! -- in all ways except your legs and back must feel out of kilter after working the rough steep slope. I second the idea that the silver item is a woman's brooch -- they were often worn centered just below the collar or neckline of a woman's blouse or dress -- not sure of timeline, but maybe as old as late 1800's through 1930's. Hope you have at least one more day on that slope as something else super may be waiting for you there. Andi

That Merc's not bad, but that SLQ is a real beauty. Must have been very close to uncirculated when it was lost. Nice date too being a 1924-S. Way to go.

Great digs, I like the hair thingy, looks like it's pretty heavy!, wierd place ya hit but heck it paid off

Nice finds, love your photos.

glad you got your internet issue fixed, and man o' man that slq has incredible toning

Actually I didn't. I have to do all my TN activity on my office computer at work during my lunch break:(
Still can't log on to TN on my home computer, all the other web sites I frequent have had no problems.
Tried everything I could think of to log on at home, I'm at my wits end....

Yea, you right, it's a weird place. It's is an old park, probably in use since the 1920's. This little park is perfect place for a kid to explore and climb around on. So I thought that there has to be a few coins lost during the last 90 years or so? my huntch paid off. Plus I could also date the area by all the 1920's to 1930's era housing that surounds this neighborhood.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

Congrats on the great finds! Love the SLQ- that one has quite a bit of detail left- looks sweet!
