Very lovely. I like the fish. Does he have a name? just noticed the concrete fish, too. I have never seen mangroves in a pond like this.

Haven't named the fish, just the cats. My wife started the mangrove from a pod floating in the Indian River. I need to trim it tomorrow.

Beautiful setup! I've been thinking about adding some koi to my pond, yours look great. I bought mine from Next Day Koi a few months back and they've been healthy and colorful ever since.

I've been reading up on maintenance for bigger ponds lately, and honestly, the filtration side of things gets complex fast, especially with koi since they produce a lot of waste. I'm still learning myself. How do you manage the water quality in yours? Yours look really well cared for.

I've had my ponds for nearly 30 years and kind of learned as I went along. We had way too many Koi for awhile and it was hard to keep the ponds clear. I sold 12 and a big white catfish to a pond guy and now everything is more manageable. I built the ponds which are fed by my artisan well. I constantly have spitters putting water in the ponds and a couple of designated overflows which allows the ponds to stay full. I plant banana trees at the overflow as they suck up the water. Mind you the spitters are not high volume just small streams to keep clean water flowing into the ponds. Small mosquito fish and mollies gobble up any mosquito larvae too. I make my own filters which actually work quite well and for the last 10 years or so the ponds have become very easy to maintain. Clearing out plants that grow fast is about the only thing I have to do and cleaning the filters every couple of months.
