i spent two hours in a new field that had just been turned today. I was lucky enough to catch the landowner there and asked if I could walk the field. He said "knock yourself out." As you can see I found more in this field in 2 hours than I have in 3 months. Can somebody please identify the round piece for me? It has pot marks on it like it has been used for striking something. The knife is the first one I have found that was not broken. Needless to say it was my best day ever!

You had a great day indeed!!the piece in question is most likely a hammerstone, imagine how nice that field is gonna be when it gets washed down real nice :headbang:

Wow you did have a good day and just think it will only get better with your new spot. The round ball may be a flint spall. If it is it has a soft shell on the outside they would use these spalls to pressure knapp much in the same they used antlers. The outer shell was soft enough to grab the flint. We find them from time to time used that way.
Hard to tell from a picture.
Nice hunt!

very nice flake knife and those points are not to shabby eather. you have a great new field keep on keeping on. Terry

Nice Finds! Looks like that field is gonna produce for ya....keep us posted!! :icon_thumright:

Great looking finds huntress. You found some nice Points and that Knife is sweet. Your round piece is more than likely a Flint Hammerstone. We find a bunch of those around here and I have found 4 in my last few hunts.

I certainly hope so. We have gotten around 2 1/2 inches of rain over the weekend so I am looking forward to getting back over there to hunt some more. With all the flint on top of the ground, there is sure to be more that will be uncovered after the rain.

Thanks for the id on the round piece. It is definitely flint because you can see a small area of flint chipped away on the bottom of it. very light grey in color. This is the first tool I have found. Looking forward to finding many more. I am soooo addicted to this stuff... :tongue3:

They are a really good artifact. Most people pass them by. The larger ones are where many of the tools come from.
