Earlier this month I found my first Standing Liberty Quarter which was a 1928.
So today at lunchtime I went back to the same park in the same general area and got a good signal that kept jumping back and forth from 50 cent to dollar on my DFX. I dig down around six inches and hit something. Turned out being a 1917 SLQ which now has a nice big gash on the back. I was so mad at myself that I was so off on the pinpointing. Scan the hole again and there is still a good signal. I recovered a second 1917 SLQ...this one without the ugly gash. I guess the second coin threw off my pinpointing.
They look to be two different types but will not know for sure until I clean them up a bit. These two came up with a grayish coating which I notice when I recover silver coins within a few feet of concrete sidewalks. It was hard to go back to the office but I had a interview coming in so I had to return.
Any suggestions on how to clean the grayish coating off? I will try to post a picture when I get home tonight.

Pictures added...I still can't believe I hit one with my digger.
Other then a warm water rinse I did not clean and from all the comments I will not. I hope you enjoyed them. I will try to make it back to this section of the park today if my work day allows for it.
