Went for a hunt this morning and scored my first penny :) it's a 1941 in pretty well used condition as you can see in the photos, also found the spoon which has some markings on the back but cannot read as it's real dirty ( have to do some research on how or if I should clean, I'd hate to mess them up) I don't know what the tube thing is, my guess it's part of a trumpet but that's just a guess. Just hunting random bush land near my home. Not really sure about the history in this area but my town had a lot of activity during the second war.

Thanks, I wasn't expecting much from this area so I am pretty happy

Hi Eagleye did you find this in Aus , if so what state , good luck on future hunts ..cheers Mick

Hi Mick, yes far North Queensland.

I reckon you're onto something there mate, spoon might have C of A on it somewhere, that would fit in with the trumpet part and military.
The penny could of been lost during a two up game! Interesting finds.

Yes possibly I need to give the spoon a clean tomorrow and see, would like to go back to this spot as I also found an old piece of machinery.. I don't know what it is but it's heavy steel with gears and two rollers, looks like it's made for crushing something maybe.. Will post photos when I get back out there.

I love that old spoon

Oh how I love the mystery of the finds. Its very nice finding silver or gold of course, but sure is fun putting a date and id on things saved from the dirt.

Yes I agree some gold would be nice. Cleaned up the spoon a little. The letters on the back are SEPNS_ ??

It's very interesting, looks quite old and I like the size. More like a shovel for food.

So I went back to this site today, it's funny it took up most of my time to find the location again. Soon as I put my detector to the ground I was hearing music. Ended up with what looks to me like a clock of some description, there were
Pieces everywhere.
