Back into the woods this morning on the hunt for relics, not so steamy today as we had a cool down Thursday night. Mostly roundballs but I did get a loud but deep buckle. Late in the hunt, a high-tone ringing in at 31 on the Equinox turned out to be a very readable 1798 Draped Bust LC.

Thanks toasted. Yes, after I looked at Yeoman's coin book I did a re-check of my DB to verify it is not a "liberty cap". Well, we know it can't be with a date of 1798. Reverse has detail for sure but I don't want to put any liquid on it. Have it sealed in a coin holder now.

Thanks Megalodon. I recall finding a pretty beat up LC at Patterson Park (when we were allowed to detect there). Some one had put a nail through it, so it was holed in the middle. A friend pointed out to me that it was a "Classic Head" since the bust line extended down to the stars.

Thanks Jeff. I had flipped it out of the hole and located it with the pinpointer. Brushing away some soil I see this green disk, coin or button? Great coin for me. I've invited others to this site and two have found large coppers. This is my second LC from here.

Thanks secondstar. Other evidences of activity near the spot of this LC are two flat buttons and pieces of worked iron.

Thanks Tom. Yep, time to celebrate.

Thanks basque-man. Scouted some other areas on the way in and there are two other sites that bear swinging a coil over.

Thanks Truth! It would be great to turn back time and see where the folks spent their time at this site. Each hunt I get a better picture of places they frequented.

Thanks crossfire631. Yes, getting dates on coins in the ground that long is not commom for coppers here.

Thanks RelicMedic. Site is near a river valley and the area is now part of a metroplitan wastershed, so the very early river-side homes and mills are under water.

Thanks Scolino. Happy hunting and good luck!

Thanks Randy! We have our Club meeting this coming Thursday, so this one will go on the "one cent" category.

You’ve been pulling in a lot of firsts lately. Wow! 1798. Way to go on that beauty.

Cool find. I'm still looking for one.

Gotta love it when those high tones turn into something awesome like that. Bet the smile popped out and grinning was nonstop! love the buckle too, yeah, we are tripping over finds like those here left and right...ok, maybe in our dreams

Congrats on the old copper! :occasion14:

Great DBLC! I’ve never come across one (yet) and also a cool buckle! Enjoy the the thrill!

Thanks washingtonian. That's right, its been an amazing month for me with some great 'keepers'.

Thanks Nacho! Takes us back, as in 1798, when John Adams was President.
