Like several other members of the forum, I took full advantage of the holiday to do a little hunting.I loaded up the kayak and took off to Hempstead Co.,AR to check out some creeks. It was the coldest hunt I've ever had. When I was unloading at the first creek, it was 28 degrees. The first broken point I found was frozen to the gravel bar.I had to chip around it then pry with my knife to get it out.I found several more brokes before finding my first whole point of 2010.It's a pink Novaculite Gary point that has been heavily resharpened.I didn't find too much after that so I headed back to the bridge. It was only a little past noon when I loaded up so I figured I had plenty of time to hit another creek before I had to head home.I hunted gravel bar after bar without finding anything.I had just about gave up when I spotted a pink point that was broken.I think it was a Johnson but the base is too badly damaged to know for sure.I snapped an insitu and was about to head on when I caught a glimpse of something red.It turned out to be just a flake.Just a few feet from that flake, trying to hide under a leaf, was my find of the day. It's made of white Novaculite.I think it's a White River but I'm not really sure. The last good find of the day is my new favorite insitu.I'm not sure of the type but it's made out of some brown flint with some wild greenish looking inclusions. The group pic has everything I hauled out with me.I think it's going to be a good year.

Great hunt.

More than one hunter has used 'recycled water' to loose a frozen point, it's better that than dinging one.

lol.i have used the "recycled water" approach,at times though there wasnt any "recycled water"on standby.good suggestion joshuaream.

It sure is nice hunting a spot that produces a lot of Novaculite.Even the common points come out looking nice.Never have found Quartz at either of the two creeks I was hunting. It would be cool to find a Diamond that had been utilized for something. There's not any bedrock either. Most of the pieces and chunks in the pics are actually pieces of clay. The lack of rock certainly helps out when it comes to the condition of points we find.

Well done sir. Very nice points and a very good day.

Nice finds, some great lithics.

Molly.
