Also at my 1800s site, I found my first flat button.
It is the size of a dime, smooth on the front, and "BEST COLOUR" on the back.
Shank in tact.
I am assuming these were guilted buttons but can't find enough info as to who made them.
Late 1700s to mid 1800s.
Any other info would be appreciated.

Definitely gilted at one point, and no real way to tell who made them without a more specific back mark. All we know is it was likely made in England based on the spelling of Colour.

Generic backmark, English manufacture, dates around 1820 to 1840. Wherever those start appearing, you have a chance of finding older coins and relics.
