My first Half Dollar 1917!!

Found my FIRST half dollar marked 1917today at a co-workers house. I brushed the dirt off and cannot believe how good of shape it is in. It fell out of my plug and I was afraid I had nicked it. I didn't. That got my heart beating again since I was finding shell casings and bullets.

This may be dumb to ask but since I have never found one before...Why is it not all discolored like the newer ones I have seen people have?

typically, silver comes out of the ground about the same color is was when lost. of course soil conditions can vary and the use of fertilizers can oxidize coins. most silver coins I ever dig come out really nice and clean

Very nice. 1917 seems to be a popular year for the walker half dollar. This is the third 1917 half dollar found on this site in the last couple of months; including the one I found. Like you my heart was beating out of my chest when I looked in that hole and seen that pretty coin staring back at me. Awsome feeling!
