My First Half Dollar and It was My Oldest Coin but Thanks to fortbball9 for pointing out that my first buffalo nickle is actually my oldest.----1913. ;D
So my two first this time around are also my two oldest.
Happy Hunting Everyone.
Ed

Hello Again Everyone! These are some pics of my finds from the past few days. I've hit several old spots and a few new ones. One of the spots I took a picture of the old house. My good buddy Robert went with me and used my ACE 250. He's never been detecting but I think he's hooked now. I found lots of neat stuff including a Alabama Luxury Tax Token, a buffalo nickle(my first to find while detecting but can't read a date though), several wheats, 2 bottles, my second silver coin since I started detecting- a 1917 Half-Dollar-WOOHOO!!!! :icon_sunny: and it's my oldest coin to date. a piece of a pocket watch which has a serial number on it F1031821,a piece to a fishing rod that says Winchester --Trademark -- Made In U.S.A. 5360 on it, 1939 Rabies Tag, some clad and lots of other things. The dude in the picture is Robert. Sorry, no pics of me. LOL! :tard: I hope to get back out this afternoon and hit a spot.
Anyway, Thanks for checking my stuff out and I hope everyone is having a great week.
Ed

Wow Possum, great finds. Looks like you found the whole organ.
By the way, that iron D shaped ring is a saddle D ring.

POSSUM! 8)
It was so much fun to hear your excitement after you dug that big 'ole silver! :icon_pirat: You found a bunch of keepers! Neat to see that dog tag too. I found a 1939 last week just like it..except the numbers are different of course.
Howdy to Robert. :hello: Congratulations on that old silver!!
Good luck on your return!

Nana

Re: My First Half Dollar and It's My Oldest Coin So Far

Great hunt Ed. What's those long things in the 2nd picture at the bottom?? I have found some of them before and wondered what they were ???

Re: My First Half Dollar and It's My Oldest Coin So Far

WTG dude!!!

Man, those finds are very nice  I'm still in shock your second silver was the half :tongue3: It wasn't too long ago your first silver find was a '64 rosie. Big difference between the two coins as far as size but their still silver and that's what counts. Congrats on your first buffalo too! Neat looking dog tag and bottles as well along with everything else. Looking forward to detecting with you when you get the chance. Would like to go back to that area with you to see if we both can come up with more silver.

HH....James

If you look at the back of the buffalo nickle you can see that it is the 1913 type I style. The buffalo is standing on a mound. So I would say that the nickle is your oldest coin,Congrats on your find.I do like the half dollar
better that the nickle though.

Thank You for pointing that out! Wow! So I guess 1913 is my oldest coin. Thats Great! I'm getting lower. I guess I need to change the title of the post. To something like 2 first and my oldest.

Thanks again,
Ed
