My First Half Dollar and It was My Oldest Coin but Thanks to fortbball9 for pointing out that my first buffalo nickle is actually my oldest.----1913. ;D
So my two first this time around are also my two oldest.
Happy Hunting Everyone.

Hello Again Everyone! These are some pics of my finds from the past few days. I've hit several old spots and a few new ones. One of the spots I took a picture of the old house. My good buddy Robert went with me and used my ACE 250. He's never been detecting but I think he's hooked now. I found lots of neat stuff including a Alabama Luxury Tax Token, a buffalo nickle(my first to find while detecting but can't read a date though), several wheats, 2 bottles, my second silver coin since I started detecting- a 1917 Half-Dollar-WOOHOO!!!! :icon_sunny: and it's my oldest coin to date. a piece of a pocket watch which has a serial number on it F1031821,a piece to a fishing rod that says Winchester --Trademark -- Made In U.S.A. 5360 on it, 1939 Rabies Tag, some clad and lots of other things. The dude in the picture is Robert. Sorry, no pics of me. LOL! :tard: I hope to get back out this afternoon and hit a spot.
Anyway, Thanks for checking my stuff out and I hope everyone is having a great week.
Ed

Wow Possum, great finds. Looks like you found the whole organ.
By the way, that iron D shaped ring is a saddle D ring.
Randy

Thanks Randy,
My buddy found several reeds as well. Thanks for the D ring ID, I thought that it might have been the handle of the harmonium that all of the reeds came from but I couldn't find a picture with a handle that was made that way.

It was so much fun to hear your excitement after you dug that big 'ole silver! :icon_pirat: You found a bunch of keepers! Neat to see that dog tag too. I found a 1939 last week just like it..except the numbers are different of course.
Howdy to Robert. :hello: Congratulations on that old silver!!
Good luck on your return!

Nana

Hey Nana,
I was glad you answered the phone. I had to share it with someone who was into detecting. I love the dog tag to. Robert says hey back to ya! Him and his wife live not to far from you over in Morris. The old house in the picture is on property that used to belong to Capt. William Hood of the Confederate Army( the Hood that Hood Cemetery is named after in Blount County) and my buddy Robert and his wife own around 170 acres of the old property and he said we could get together and have a big hunt up there sometime. The little house was built sometime in the 1800's and around the depression era the owner (unknown if it was still the Hood family) let newly wed couples who couldn't afford a house stay in it until they could find a place and then it was used as a hunting lodge for a few years after that and I believe that was when the fireplace was added and the well in the back was surrounded with bricks. Most of the property is wooded but you may be able to find a old map of the area since you have such good luck with that. If you want to try, pm me and I'll let you know what specific area to look.
I'll talk to you later.

Awesome finds. I am gonna have to pay more attention to those old wooden houses I see on the roadsides when i drive around. Congrats on your finds. Support you local Fire Department. Way to go

I've just recently received permission to hunt several old houses like that so maybe I'll be posting some more good finds.
The finds in the 3rd picture including the coins came from an Army fort. (minus the brass shell casing- it came from a home site) Found them in a wooded area that was said to be a training field back in WW1 and 2.
Speaking of supporting your local F.D., that's how me and my buddy Robert met. We both went through FF1 and FF2 together.
Thanks for the comment.

Great hunt Ed. What's those long things in the 2nd picture at the bottom?? I have found some of them before and wondered what they were ???

They are organ reeds. These, I believe, came from a harmonium. I have been looking a many different types since finding my first one a while ago and the only exact match I have found for these particular ones were from a harmonium.

WTG dude!!!

Man, those finds are very nice  I'm still in shock your second silver was the half :tongue3: It wasn't too long ago your first silver find was a '64 rosie. Big difference between the two coins as far as size but their still silver and that's what counts. Congrats on your first buffalo too! Neat looking dog tag and bottles as well along with everything else. Looking forward to detecting with you when you get the chance. Would like to go back to that area with you to see if we both can come up with more silver.

HH....James
Hey James,
I can't wait either. Congrats on your silver quarters from the fort last weekend. I hope you had more luck yesterday. Wished I could have been there. Talk to you later.

Also, fortbball9 thank you again for your input.

And thanks to everyone else who commented on my stuff.
Happy Hunting,
Ed

Wow, Possum! The history of that place! :o I'd be more than happy to work up some maps for ya. :) I'll send ya a pm.
