Actually found this 2 days ago right off of my drive way! I wasn't going to post it because it is so worn and thin, but the back does show some detail, and in the sunlight you can make out the date 1842!! ;D

I had been digging Wheaties (1940's-50's) from the same area, so I really thought this was a .50 cent piece! I was so happy when I started to clean it and saw the "one cent" showing!!

WTG, and welcome to large cent club!..gregg

Thanks guys! Hope to find another soon..... :D

Great find!!! I'm still waiting for my first LC.

Nice find. Beats my oldest coin (also a L.C.) by 6 years....

First Large Cents are very exiting. Congrats!
I remember my first one was almost like a slug. It was so thin, there was nothing left of the face, and you could just barely make out the "one cent' on the back.
Then, every time I found one after that, they just kept coming out in better and better shape.
I guarantee you, your next one will be even nicer!
Congrats on your first L.C.!

WTG on your LC find. I still looking for mine...Matt

That is funny, mine was also about 3 inches down, still can't believe I found it, this neighborhood was built in the 1950's, before that it was farm land.

Congrats on that first large cent! I remember when I found my first, it was in the water 10 to 15 feet off shore, along the north side of the Niagara River which circles around grand island....after finding some silver coins and indians where an old beach once was I pulled out an 1818 large cent and I was very happy ......at that time which was about 10 years ago it was one of those items on the old (Wanting to find List) .........years later and plenty more of those, the list has become much shorter. But the wonderful thing about this hobby.........with every dig , you never know what will pop out next !!!

Congrats again.........and Keep on Digging!

John
