My first military button! Ideas on origin?

I found this button last night at a site that has yielded mostly teens and 1920s relics. The back of the button says L.A. Myers Jr. Inc. Newark N.J. Any information is appreciated! Happy hunting. - Jim

U.S. Army "Great Seal" general service button, c. 1902-present.

I believe that with the backmark of "L.A. Myers, Jr., Inc.," a Newark, NJ firm, it likely dates from World War II.

I just found similar button recently in Transcarpathia, western part of modern ukraine - does anybody know what that button was doing there?
