My first post - interesting old copper finds

Hello everyone. I have been reading posts on this site for a few days and decided to join. I just recently started CRH but have been an avid coin collector for many years. Many of the coins I've collected have been sentimental in value (change from places that are fond memories - date with girlfriend, coins given by my (late) Great Grandmother...) but last week I bought a few rolls of pennies and now I am hooked. I've opened about $20 in rolls and found about a dozen wheats and several Canadian coins, plus a random dime that was glued to a penny. I also sorted out the pre-82 copper pennies and averaged 30%/roll. This is so fun!! My girlfriend thinks I am crazy, though. Two of the more interesting coins I found were an 1867-1967 Canadian penny and a 1948 Canadian King George VI penny. I'll try to upload some pics if anybody is interested. And this week I need to do some silver searching. Great site!!!

nice finds, i've also added pennies to my routine with a ryedale. 30% is pretty good. I think I am averaging 20-25% through $825 face value. I did get lucky with 1 teller who had about $25 of CWR's that were so old the tape was yellowed on the ends. They were solid copper rolls but very few wheats, most of them were 1973/74 pennies, musta been someones old jar.

I also found one of those 100 year canadian pennies.

I am fairly new here myself but you will find these forums very helpful. I must warn you it can become fairly addicting once you hit your first good day of hunting.

my gf thought I was crazy at forst for doing it. But now she completely understands everything and she even helps me out. Every bank she goes to she asks for half dollars. I even get to dump at her credit union. Your gf will understand sooner or later and realize it is a very profitable hobby and have fun doing it. Keep it up and hh!!
