This was my first relic to cross the line into the 1800s. When I dug it up it was curled into a roll, and was unfortunately damaged by unrolling it, but it is still a very nice find especially here in MI. From research it is determined it is an 1821 New York State Militia Belt Plate, courtesy of a friend on another treasure forum. This is one of my best finds to date and even though it is damaged, it holds a special place in my collection. It was dug on an old stagecoach area, now a farm. It was only about two inches down in a field. HH

Excellent find, congrats!

Nice find,

I would have rolled it out also. Then took a cloth over it and hit it with a light hammer. It still is a nice find even damaged.

That, my friend, is a VERY SOLID buckle recovery!
