A cowboy quarter was also my first silver quarter. They are awesome! I have only every found one with a date and that is the only thing you can read since it was burned in a fire. :(

Very nice silver find! Congratulations.

Loco-Digger I went out around 2pm and my knees were wet but that was it. Half of the yard was still frozen solid after the the first two inches so I will save that for next week. Yes Slowwevo there three stars under the eagle. Can that help date the coin? Thanks for all of the replies.

yes it tells me its not a 1916or17 variety 1,3 stars says its a var. 2(1917-1930)I don't know if there is enough there but, the pedestal date is from1917-1924. 25 to 30 is recessed date

Thanks for helping me get a little closer on the date. I went back out today for about two hours and found an axe head a nickel and a penny plus two more little cars. I am still surprised at how much noise this machine makes. I am hoping when I get to a less trashy site it will quiet down some. Before I head someplace other than my yard my pinpointing skills need to get a LOT better. Thanks again for the help.
