Title says it all, got skunked. Same handling company that usually produces 5 or 6 silvers per $500 for me, but different bank. Oh well, can't wait for the next box!
I did find a 1989d however, that seems to be made of lead or something. It has absolutely no ring to it at all. Conterfeit maybe? It looks the same as the other coins, just sounds completely different. Anybody else come across something like this?

magician's coin maybe? check to see if it's hollow. does it seem to weigh less than a regular clad half?

just a thought.

It's a magician's coin. Put it in a jar or very thick glass and shake it until it pops apart. Should be a English Penny or Mexican Centavos inside. Or it could be like the one I have posted a picture of (This is the only one of these I have found).

I have found about 20 magician's coins this year, I still like finding them!

Awesome! I want to find one of these coins. I try dropping each half to hear the ring, but no luck so far. Any tips for me to better spot them?

Your doing right.......just have to come across one. You'll know the second you hear it drop....thud, no ring at all.

First of many trust me...

part of the job!

Hopefully you find some nice silver amongst them though!

I tried shaking it in a jar, but it doesn't want to come apart. I looked at it with a magnifying glass, wasn't sure if I saw a seam or not. It sure does sound hollow though. Like Ifyndit said, it makes a thud, no ring at all. I don't have a camera available right now, but it wouldn't matter. It looks exactly like a regular clad half. It does seem to weigh less than a regular coin, but I couldn't say for sure. I'll keep fooling with it and try to get it open. It's certainly interesting, I'll give it that!

Freezing it then dropping it did the trick. The other side is a "20 centavos" piece. Cool! After all the spy stuff I read on the internet about hollow coins, I was half expecting a spy message or poison or something to come out. ::)

Cool, glad you got it opened. I want to find one of them.... ;D
