After lunch today I thought I would go to the beach and check it out. It was cold and windy and I could just about stand up against the wind. It was just too much for me. I have had my BH505 for a couple of weeks and have tried the beach (no success), the woods (some success) and a Bike Week camping ground (lots of beer screw caps and 73 cents in assorted coins).

I wasn't going to give up and let a little wind keep me from my "treasure". I jumped back into the van and headed to a little secluded park nestled among the trees on the Intracoastal Waterway to try my luck and develop my technique. I walked ten feet and BAM! Pay dirt only an inch down. You would think I hit the Atocha! I am now officially hooked. Here is what I found. It's .925 silver and weights about 1/3 ounce.

I can't wait until tomorrow.

Cool find! Welcome to the forum and the hobby. I also have a BH 505. It is a great little detector. I have found tons of coins and rings with it. HH

Welcome to the forum and the hobby. I too have a BH 505. It is a good detector for the parks and the dry sand on the beach. I have found lots of coins with it and 1 silver ring. The 505 does not like the salt water here in San Diego but does work on the dry sand very well. Check out your local schools and play grounds especially the wood chips and you will be finding coins in no time. Good luck and happy hunting. Thad

Nice find and it doesn't take much to get hooked with this sport. Good hunting.

No dude, that IS treasure. AND SILVER...... Spectacular find, and sorry to hear that you're 'hooked.' It still not too late, though. Put down the machine, and back slowly away. ;D ;D

Hope to read about and see more of your treasures...........Florida, eh? Got to be some gold on the beaches there..............

Good luck, and welcome aboard.
