Yesterday at lunch I hit my favorite park for a short hunt. It is getting too hot to do this for too much long at lunch time...starting to sweat and that is not good for work.
I found the usual clad, four wheats (3 from the teens) and a 1902 Indian Head cent.
I was about to throw my clad into the clad coffee can when I noticed one of the quarters I dug did not look the same as the others. It was a little thinner so I started cleaning it up. The first side I cleaned had a man squatting by what looks like a volcanoe and the words One Centavos. Now I'm thinking foreign coin so I start cleaning up the other side and there is an eagle that has its wings spread over a shield and it reads The Unitied States of America. Now I'm confused so I pull out the red book and in the back find out that it is a American occupation coin from the Philippines. The date is hard to read but I think it is a 1903.
Not worth much but it was something different and was fun to research. I was able to find a coin that I had never seen before so that was cool. I will try to post a picture at a later time since I don't have my camera with me. (sorry)
