And they all seem to be in very good condition too. Speaking from experience...that ADS 5 Garrett machine is a great machine for deep silver coins. Thanks for the post......nice to see some of the older machines still in active circulation!

I still have a Master Hunter 7 ; Still works like new but the coil wire is getting hard and
I am afraid it will crack if put back into use. Also have the 1" probe coil and the 4" prospector
coil. Have also found out that those coils will work with the Scorpion. I need to put one of
my Scorpion coils on it to see if that combo works. Really don't know why I would want to
other that to just see if it would work.

Joe, I take it that you like
Garrett detectors! How many in all do you have?

Desertfox

.......................DESERTFOX, I have a few more Garrett's (non-working) but they are basicly for parts!!.................I prefer the older Garrett's...............my newest Garrett would probably be the MH 7X!!..........................................XT18000, the MH 7 and the MH 7X are very similiar, The MH 7 uses the older 5.5 khz coils while the MH 7X uses the Crossfire Coils. If your coil is the problem these coils can easily be found and also not be expensive! I don't think that the Scorpion Coils would work, I believe that these were 15 khz coils!!...............Joe

Hello, Joe,

I,too, have an old Garrett. I picked it up at an estate auction a year ago and the first metal detector that I ever saw close up. A freedem Ace Coin Commander. I have often wished I had one but knew nothing about them or even where to buy one
having never seen any for sale anywhere. I emailed Garrett from the name on it and they sent me a owner's manual. They were only made in 1985and 1986 but it still works. I got a couple of books and earphones. Then I found Kellyco and bought
the Ace 250. Was hoping my wife would take it up but she is not interested. I like the 250. Am starting to get better
with the pinpointing feature. I got an Automax V4 with my 250 from Kellyco but am not catching thehang of it too well.
But that is probably because i get out as much as I wanted to this summer to use it.

Good hunting,

There are some Auto-Parts Store products , that will soften up that cable!
