my gold rings

Nice Collection! How many years you been at it?
I have yet to find any rings... :'( only been at it for a few months...

Happy Hunting!

Way to go, Raoul - nice spread you've got there. By "in the ocean," do you mean beachcombing or diving or both?

Hi guys, i have been detecting for about 20 years, but shallow water detecting for 12 years,Leon don't worry i garentee you you will soon start finding rings as long as you stick to it.
Darren, i now use the Minelab Excaliber in the water, i go out as far as i can which is up to my neck in water,i have found very few rings on the dry beach sand, but thats because other detectorists do the beach while there are still bathers and they find all the goodies,i refuse to go and disterb people while they are on the beach. I wait untill the majority have gone home to do the beach then.

Impressive collection! I don't see any diamond rings there-- do you keep them separate, or just sell them, or does nobody wear diamond rings Down Under? (Or am I just blind?!)

Hi Lab rat, yes i have a few diamonds left, i sell my rings whenever i can.I go to the jewlers and have them valued then sell them for halfprice, the mens one there is worth $1000.00 Italian 18KT with white gold incesions and diamond, had a buyer for that one but he couldn't raise the money. you will find that the rings with diamonds sell fast especially at the reduced prices.
My best find was one valued at $10.000 managed to get $7.000 for it? that was 5 years ago.
my parents live with me and whenever my mum sees the rings that i have found that day she try's them on,"typical women"? then? i havent the heart to ask for them back,i can tell you she has quite a good collection of rings of her own.

I like the water as well. When I beach hunt it's always at night. I really do not like to disturb the bathers either. I see one ring in particular that I find interesting. It's from a lodge. May help you sell or trade if you like. Have you had any trouble with your excaliber? I want to replace my water machine soon and I love my Soverign, but I have heard some horror stories about the ex. Keep up the good gets! HH. Chris

Hi guys thanks for your responces.
Southern gent i have had my excalibur now for almost 4 years, these are the only things that i find wrong with it, its a very heavy detector,i have mine hip mounted and it works fine no problems at all,the other thing is it has 5 knobs and some of them tend to slip past their stop positions. I phoned minelab and had a couple shipped to me and had no more problems with it.
Its a great detector as it ignors the iron targets and foil, steady thresh hold and no false signals and goes bloody deep. Raoul

Thanks for the reply Raoul. After Francis moves through I may have to invest in an Excaliber. Good luck!HH. chris
