What i found in My Grandmothers backyard where I played 50+ years ago

I hunted my Grandmothers backyard where over 30 grandchildren went to play regularly and my Mom, aunts and uncles grew up.

I was amazed at what Johnny Cache Hunter and I found.

Not much clad but 5 wheat penny's, 7 unknown coins of which 3 are pictured, what I thought was a dime which when cleaned turned out to be a strange dime sized item with what appears to be an Angel and Ghost, and a toy car which I remember playing with 50+ years ago.

Nice old Tootsie (sp?) and not sure what those coins are either. Almost look Arabic, don't they? I have found Tootsie Toys on a few digs but never that particular one. Pretty neat knowing your little hands played with it, I bet.

The coins were all pennies of which 5 are Wheaties dated 1953, 1944, 1956D, 1951 & 1947.

the coins with the square holes in them are Chinese coins. A lot of those coins came to the United States as decorations on sewing baskets, etc. The coins lost monetary value when the country changed rulers and after a grace period of turning them in, they became worthless thus used as decorations, etc.

wow your own car. now that is amazing to me

Makes me want to go detect my grandparents houses. To bad new owners now :(
Good finds. Thanks for sharing!

Ah, the memories 4dcr. Thanks for sharing...

I too went to my grand parents house, the new owners said yes and when I went there with my son they came out and told me the owner was sick and could we stop back in a month or two. I think the two months are up. I have to check on the date, I'm hoping they will allow me to detect it. I'm also going to try and get permission to do my first privy dig there. I can imagine how it felt to find that car, nice finds, always more interesting when on your own property's.

Wow, that's really special, I know how it is to hunt relatives land, it's great

Tootsie Toy cars are always fun to find.

I am lucky that the house is still in the family and I will be able to go back as often as I like. There about an acre of land so I will be busy.
