My last gold I cut in half + 2009 gold finds (80) pix of silver added

I haven't been able to post for a few months. My wife and I have been in Spain since the first of the year. I didn't get to hunt much in Jan. and Feb, but hunted alot in Mar.-Apr- and May. I have about 80 pieces for the year sofar and will resume hunting in Aug. The last piece I dug, I cut in half. You can see from the pix that I mangled it pretty bad. I would have posted my find while we were over there but I never did figure out how to down size my pix so they would fit . I also had over 100 pieces of silver and I will try and get a pix and add to this post. We are still un-packing and I haven't located all my "stuff" I have been keeping up on most of the posts and it looks like it has been a banner spring for quite a lot of the hunters. I hope you will enjoy the pix of my gold and will be posting some dirt find soon. Here are the pix of over 100 of the pieces of silver I found this spring.

Awesome amount of gold! Did you only detect around the beach? Did anyone hassle you about detecting? I am considering driving down to Spain when the weather here in Germany gets bad. HH, Mike

Thanks Moon. There are several Spanish and quite a few English that hunt in the water over there. The targets are thinning out but we got lucky and hit a couple of surf beaches that produced really well.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I only detect in the water as by law there is no detecting above the high tide line. Lots of people detect in the sand and never have a problem. I guess it is up to the local police. The only time you will get hassiled is during high season when people are in the water but you can still detect early in the morning or late in the evening. If you are serious about hunting , I have a 1 bedroon apartment that I rent pretty cheap. This apartment is on the first floor of my house and is really nice.

what are the laws about detecting out there? i was told it was a no no!

is it restricted to beaches only

Wow - nice!

I would think the quantity of your haul is a testament to your abilty to NOT be distracted! I can tell you, I prolly would not have found a thing, if I were in your shoes!

Did you have any issues with locals or authorities?
What are the nuances for detecting in Spain, that you've found?
How well were you recieved by the locals while you were doing it?
Do you speak Spanish - i.e. were you able to communicate effectively?
Am I correct in assuming there is a policy of reporting your finds to the authorities for historic value, and you keep whatever is deemed not significant?

No, no - don't worry. I'm not gunnin' for your 'sweet spot' - I currently live in Germany and would like to start looking around, myself.
