I haven't been posting much lately :-X , but thought I'd share my latest commemorative - 1991 D Mt. Rushmore in excellent shape. I also thought I'd share my other commemorative finds...seeing as how all the silver is drying up in my area, I need to find something else to hunt.

I've got my heart set on a Stone Mountain or something more exotic.

Anyway...here they are...hope you enjoy the pics.

Commemorative totals:

2 1893 Columbian Expo's (silver)
1 1946 D BT Washington (silver)
2 1982 D G. Washington 250th Anniversary (silver)
6 2003 P Wright Bros. 1st Flight (clad - out of 3 diff boxes)
1 1991 D Mt. Rushmore Comm (clad)
12 1986 SLC (mixed S and D clads) Woo-Hoo!

Congrats to you also Tim.

It's weird how the value of the comms. doesn't seem to correlate to the mintage that much.

The First Flight Wright Bros. halves only had 57,726 P circulation strikes minted...and I have 6 of them...price seems to be around $20 on fee bay.

The Mount Rushmores had 172,754 struck in the circulation D's...same price approximately.

116 year old Columbians (silver) 1.5MM stuck...same price $20-25 bucks. Go figure.

Still it's a nice change of pace to pull one of these out of a box.

HH and thanks for looking.

And it is one of the better ways to buy silver. I routinely buy prestige sets from the 80's and 90's at auctions. Most of times, I get the sets for $10-$15 dollars. I crack the sets and set aside the 90% silver dollar in tubes and sell the other proof denominations on eBay to offset the cost. When it is all said and done, I end up with a 90% silver dollar with limited mintage recognized around the world for around $8-$10. People will pay $8 for a well-worn walking liberty half-dollar with mintage in the millions, but hesitate to buy an $10 silver dollar with low mintage in mint condition. Go figure. Their loss is my gain.
