this jar is most likely made in the last 30 years. made in Italy and held olives .

it could be but i dont think the used it for export it weighs 9lbs plus there are a lot of trapped bubbles like you see in older glass
 

I have to agree on the age, I don't think it's all that old Jim, in fact I'm not sure it was made to hold anything originally. It could very well be an art glass type piece made in Mexico or Spain, made to mimic something that is old...
