That’s a poor day of digging by your standards (that would be a good month/year for the rest of us mere mortals). Congrats.

And to avoid confusion….that was a joke.
It was ok buddy. It being so dry slows me down a little bit. I'm amazed that we still find stuff.

Congratulations on all those finds! You shouldn't be too surprised, there was a lot of lead flying in those days. :laughing7:

Thanks. We've beat on this camp for years buddy. I'm amazed we still find stuff.

Where ever your site is , keep going back. I am running out of places myself but you are killing it. Thanks for sharing! :icon_thumright:
Thanks. I have lots of places buddy. I rotate through them & try to get new ones. This one is one of my oldest. I'm amazed that we still find stuff. This is a big 2nd corps camp. Gettysburg campaign.

I dug out most of the relics from this camp & put them together. It's been pretty good over the years.

Congratulations on the mitt full of lead.
Your old friend just keeps giving.
Moisture will help for depth.
Amazing collection from the site, very worthy.

Query: Any cannonballs?

First….wow. Second, in the first pic, what is the mushroom shaped brass piece in the upper right hand corner on the white felt?

I've never dug any or heard of any being recovered around it. It's a big camp. A whole corps camp there. I've dug eagle A buttons & a artillery gimlet. These are from across the road same camp. I have plates from it also.

It's what held a epaulet on the shoulder. The epaulet has a slot that it went through & twisted to hold it.
