Re: My llittle Ding Dong

Good find!Although I was a little reluctant to look, the title was putting a different picture in my mind,it wasn't a good picture. That is a great looking bell though, congrats.

Re: My llittle Ding Dong

Ok now get your mind on treasure hunting.

Re: My little Ding-A-Ling

rofl Daddy I was worried about opening it myself! Love the bell though!! That is quite a treasure! Where did ya find it? I want one!!

Re: My little Bell

Man, I had to change the title so some folks wouldn't be offended. LOL. I found it at an old med 1800's home site not to far from my house. The same place I found the Mason Jar, and the lead doll shoes. It was down about 15 inchs, along with a bottle that i will post later.

Re: My little Bell

Re: My little Bell

oh man I love that bell..the handle is like none I have ever seen... how tall is this bell.....sheez, betcha that signal blew your ears off..lol

Re: My little Bell

The little bell is four, and one half inches tall. I was digging another signal when I found the bell. First I found a piece of cast iron from a wood stove, and some other metal. After I had cleaned the 3 ft. round, and 18 inch deep hole out, I decided to run my detector over it again. About 15 inches down on one side of the hole I picked up a signal. I widened the hole about another 6 inches in that area, and thats where I located the bell. I almost passed out to see it in one hole piece. The bonger was missing, but I love the bell.

Re: My little Bell

Re: My little Bell

normal , your head must still be ringing?
keep up the good work . hh slak jak .

Re: My little Bell

Don't really know the age of this bell, but the site dates from around the 1840's to the late 1800's. It has a number 81 on the botton of the bottle, I've heard that was the year the bottle was made. Do it would be 1881.

Re: My little Bell

Great bell!. . . how does it sound?

Re: My little Bell

I'm really sorry i got my discription mixed up with the bottle. The bell has no numbers on it. The bottle I found that was posted on another post had the number 81 on it. I was thinking of one thing, and writing another. The bell did not have a dong in it. I do believe I found the dong that was lost out of the bell though.
