This was actually a surface find today, but it rang as a 1 in full metal mode on the Equinox 600, but didn’t register at all in Field 1, max sensitivity. I have no clue what the metal material is. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Thanks!

Sinking your teeth into the hobby! :laughing7::headbang::hello2:

If the metal tastes like grapes, its silver

Hi JoeVal,
Mostly, the metal in modern dentistry is platinum. This sure looks like it. I guarantee whoever lost it is sick about it. I'm about to have two studs put in my jaw to the tune of 5 grand. Do the math!
Congrats on the cool find!

What is funny is how many times posters have said this is unusual or the first gold they have found.

I draw the line at tasting it! I cleaned it with soap and water and a scrub brush...that’s all the attention it’s getting!:laughing7:

Tomorrow I’m contacting the facility near where I found it to see if anyone mentioned losing it. I’d really like to get it back to them.

I read online that most modern dentistry today is made with cast alloys. They didn’t mention anything about precious metals.

WE WILL ALL BE CHOMPING TO FIND OUT IF YOU CAN RETURN THEM :occasion14: :hello2:

Dang, I made that up to see if you'd taste it :tongue3:

Money in the bank.:laughing7:

Nice teeth. I have found dental work in 10k, 14k, sterling silver and stainless steel so there is no telling what yours is without checking it out. Good luck with the possible return. I hope you get lucky.

Keep swingin.

It’s a mandibular (bottom teeth) cast metal partial denture. I bet someone is sick that they lost it. New they run anywhere from $1200-2000 depending on where you live. I hope you can find the owner. Unfortunately for you there’s not much value in the metal. Still an unusual find for sure!

Thanks for a definitive identification on this appliance. I found the email address last night for the director of recreation in the city I found this in, explained how and where (important) I found it, and let her know how the owner could contact me to return it to them. I’m hoping to be able to return it soon. I found a class ring last year, and had that returned in a couple of days, so hopefully this won’t take too long. I’ll for sure post a return picture if the owner agrees to it.

You found that, and it might not even be made of a precious metal ? That just BITES !

Very unusual find, hard to figure how it could have been lost, BOL on the return

I bet a dental office could locate the owner lol all I want for Christmas are my lost front teeth
