WHAT KIND OF TREASURE ARE WE HUNTING TODAY ?
Detector(s) used
MINELAB E TRAC, EXCAL2,QUATTRO,WHITE 6000 DI PRO SL,EAGLE SPECTRUM,SILVER UMAX ,BANDIDO UMAX VARIOUS VINTAGE
i had a larger crh score a few weeks ago that got me

thinkin i could use some new toys.

called up my buddy Goldinwater and he had a like new

Troy x3 that he had taken in intrade. a good deal

thanx, Chris.

anyway i dont know if it was the detector or me or some

of each but we really burned rubber at my club fall hunt.

i attend 5 to 8 organised hunts a year and let me tell you

there are some very fast hunters out there.

i have watched in awe hunt after hunt as some

either luckyier or faster hunter won the bigger prizes.

dont get me wrong, ive almost always done well.

but in several years of this i have yet to win a detector

or GOLD COIN prize which are usually the highest

prizes given. anyway last sun oct 2 was the local club hunt.

is also last hunt of the year. lets make good YEAH

im pumped. so i had practised with the x3 to make sure

i know how it will respond.

it run on 19khz and evidently not many other detectors

use that freq. the instant there was a bit of chatter

bingo hit the switch and problem solved.

so nice to have a dedicated competition machine ,,,DUH

should have done this long ago.

anyway my magic day started with a couplea fun hunts

the poker hunt which our team was last.

key hunt in which out team was second and i did not find

one of the three colored keys to unlock the special

treasure chests. these 2 fun hunts earned me 3 silver dimes

not pictured on pix.

now it was time for the big silver hunt ok, here goes

nothin. wow targets galore SILVER RUSH WHEEEEE.

and TOKENS YEAH i know what there going to be good

for later.the tokens earned the coins in the 2x2's .10 silver halves 2 25c

ok so this was only a field of 14 hunters.

however my club contains 6 to 8 very good fast hunters

any one of whom has smoked me at the regional

big hunts. on any given day.

not this time. Troy x3 n me had 68 total targets in 40 min.

including 12 tokens.27 gold or sba dollars .2 clad halves

2 silver quarters dug. 20 silver dimes. and 5 unplanted

coins .

someone had 9 tokens

someone had matched my 20 dimes but only had 6 tokens

someone had 18 dollar coins and 7 tokens

my total take was $8.30 in silver and 28 dollars clad.

i won hands down. now i get to spend the whole winter

to find out how i will do next season.

my club is active and we all work hard to support these

hunts so we can have good prizes.

to anyone who has not tried organised hunts.

u are missing it.even though the fast ones win more and
;more often. it is still possible for anyone to win big.

a lady who only found 3 tokens at treasure week won the

gold coin.

I hunt two or 3 sponsored hunts a year and have won some silver and one detector that I really didn't need. It seems like the same people win time after time and it gets old. Makes me wonder if there isn't a little inside information being spread around to a select group. I find just as many coins and such as the next guy but rarely a prize coin or token. Is it just that some people are exceptionally good, lucky or is it something else? I have watched the oft winners and they don't seem to being anything different than me and I certainly find my share of "junque" tokens and such. They nearly always have good equipment, not always the mosts expensive nor the most popular, but just ordinary reliable equipment. And I have noticed that the often winners are pretty clanish and seem to stick together at all of the hunts, kind of standoffish. (Is that a word)? But other than the cost of entering I go for the comradery and to see and visit with old friends and meet new people as much as collecting prizes. But I don't know how much longer I can keep it up with the cost of entry steadily rising each year. I use to enter all the hunts but can't afford to now except just a a few select ones. Of course I realize it's not the sponsor's fault that the price of metals and equipment keeps rising, but I hope it is not like so many other hobbies in that it can only be afforded by the wealthy some day. I'd like to see the hunts handicapped somehow like many lf the local amateur golf tourneys for instance. Something like join the club and handicap your finds so you compete against those of equal talent and/or perhaps equipment? Of course there would be sandbaggers like in all handicapped sports events , but there are cheaters at nearly every level but for the most part. Most of the people I hunt with are honest as the day is long. I realize it would be hard to handicap and keep track of , but would it be worth it? Would it attract more amateur people and good folks to attend and compete? Maybe some day? Monty
