Went to some tot lots today the wind was 25 mph steady with gusts to 40, Yeah it was interesting the tot lots had real old wood chips and the wind had scoured areas so a lot of what I found were eyeball finds but the Barber was under some stairs where a lot of chips were and I got a 78 on my AT Gold that is in between zinc pennies and dimes or copper pennies, so It definitely interested me and when I pulled it out at first I thought it was a foreign coin then I saw what it was, what the heck, how did that get there.Pictures are as best as I could do. 100_6304.webp100_6305.webp100_6307.webp100_6308.webp

Nice haul and old dime. The sad thing is, there isn't even enough there to replace that can of Copenhagen with all of the darn California tobacco taxes these days!

Congrats on your find. It may have somehow been inside or at the base of the tree that was ground up to make the wood chips where you were hunting. We can only wonder!

My oldest before this was a 1921 wheatie so hold out and it will come. And probably from where you least expect it.

True, this was from my friend's house. That was a great day.

Your best bet would probably be out East on highway 4, Angels camp,Copperopolis,Sonora or some of those town's with an older history and that haven't paved over everything.I know Stockton was founded in 1849 but so were a lot of the outer area's because of the gold rush.
