I took advantage of the mild weather and went out for a hunt with low expectations. I had bought a Max last summer and decided this was the day to leave the AT Pro in the truck. I’ve read reviews and viewed you tube videos all winter trying to figure the thing out. The sounds are different as well as the response time. Well after about an hour into the hunt I came across a bouncy signal that read between 70 and 75 and out popped my oldest coin to date. The date reads 1789. I think it’s a half reale? Not very familiar with these coins so I’m not positive.

After that find I’m thinking there is no way to top that so maybe its time to leave. Well I talked myself into staying, the weather was decent and I’ve been cooped up for the past 45 days unable to detect. It was just nice to be back out again. Well, I’m glad I did. About 30 minutes after my oldest find I get a screaming 85 on the max. I say to myself, “I have heard this sound before”. No way, not possible. Well, I dug my plug. When I pulled it back I saw this..

Holy crap, I’m thinking capped. Went to take another photo and my phone went dead. Dang it! I set the phone down grabbed the coin and discovered it wasn’t capped but seated. 1858 O seated quarter to be exact.

The coin is in great shape!

It was good to be out and ready for another good year. I’m liking the MAX. He are today’s finds minus trash.

Any additional info on the 1789 coin would be appreciated. Thanks!

Killer coin hunting mate. Well done.

Awesome job! Seated quarter isn't exactly a common thing to see posted! Congrats

Congrats on a couple of excellent old coins. That does look like a 1/2 Reale.

Congrats. Wow!!!

Great finds! I found my first Spanish silver a few months ago and I remember the feeling I got when I realized what it was. I had only seen pictures of them but the nano second I saw it poking out of a dirt clod I knew what it was! Great hunting and thanks for posting your pics!
