Would you believe This half dollar was not found with a metal detector. It was found on top of the ground about two feet from the edge of the road on the shoulder. No idea how it got there. Half Dollar.back.webpHalf Dollar.webp

Dangit man. That’s one amazing find. Congrats

If its real, thats an amazing find. My only worry is that there are literal tons of fakes of these coming from china. Maybe someone realized they got scammed and threw is out in disgust. If its real, I'd be back there with a detector checking the are for more coins!

Jason does the reverse look like there is some pitting on the back? I see something but I’m not sure.

Pic is too small, and it could be damage from the location, drop, bounce or whatever happened for it to end there.

I did go back to that same place with me detector Check under all the bushes and the hill side but came up with nothing. How knows it could have been trucked in with loads of dirt for shoulder repair.

It’s happened before. I’ve been to some sidewalk tearouts that yielded nothing but when they brought dirt back in I found some stuff right on top.

A site for sore eyes.

I'd 'Freak'!

I figure that if 'I' were to make a fake , i'd at-least make it an 1880's date, but YN-Know.

I came across lots of counterfeit coins of all denominations being sold out of Chinatown in NYC.
Scan that half dollar with a magnet. Most of the Chinese fakes have a ferrous base.
Congratulations on your find.

Nice, hope it’s silver

Sweet finds !!!! Great post
