Personal find central Sierra Nevada foothills El Dorado County . Haskett
Time Period : 13200-8000 B.P.
Location : Idaho, N.W. Nevada and Southern Oregon.
Shape : Lanceolate / Basalt

Description:
A medium to large size, narrow, thick, lanceolate point with parallel flaking and a ground, convex to straight base. It comes in two types: Type I expands towards the tip (Could be resharpened type IIs). Type II is basically parallel sided to excurvate. Consistantly dated older than Clovis from hydration dates obtained from controlled conditions. One such test dated Haskett to 12,100 years old. The Haskett point is related to Cougar Mountain points found on the same sites. Haskett /Lind Coulee points later evolved into Alberta & Agate Basins. An extremely rare type with only a few dozen complete examples known. Information from Overstreet

Nice. I love the ancient stuff.

FYI for those of you who love to stay updated and aren't aware, "The Mammoth Trumpet" is a printed newsletter put out by The Center for the Study of The First Americans. It's a Texas A+M publication. It's only about $35. a year and it conbtains the latest on research both physical and the DNA on the subject of peopling of the Americas.
Great information, and a great read.
