Real nice country, always liked the idea of MD'ing over there with
the history the area has.

nice photos Doug but those trucks are on the wrong side of the road :icon_scratch: ::)

Could be that the photograph is back to front?

yup

A great looking view. Just curious, is the soil there like clay? Looks hard to dig if it was not plowed up. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pics.! My first reaction was nice place for arrow heads. Boy you guys got cheated, all you can find is coins that are several thousand years old! Happy hunting! Jim B

Good morning!
Here in the south west of England, and in this particular area we are privileged to have a fine red growing soil. These and most of my detecting sites are on farmland created by the glacial erosion into this valley between the Blackdown Hills and The Quantock Hills, leaving us our river, the Tone.

The other side of the coin, figuratively speaking of course, the detecting sites on the surrounding hills which in the main are sheep farming, the sites are unploughed due to the rocky state of the ground. (screwdriver extraction in some cases!)

The hills around us are the oldest sites of occupation, stone/iron/bronze and Roman.
