I recently moved from NJ to MA. It only took me a couple of days to find get permission to hunt a huge farm right down the street from me. Ripe with old fields and woods filled with stone walls and cellar holes, this farm keeps producing for me!

The copper is a 1787 Connecticut Copper. (uncleaned). My first! *** Added picture of cleaned copper. Back is completely toast, so I didn't even bother photographing it.

My friend Mike who has hunted with me at the farm, managed to pull out a smoothie copper a while back, which may or may not be a KGII or perhaps even another Conn Copp.

I have found over 40 buttons (not all are pictured), most of them coming from the cellar hole deep in the woods behind the farm. Buttons are of British design. If I had to guess, the cellar hole homesite is early 1800's.

It took me a ton of work to put together these videos. Please enjoy!

Well if you had no button collection before, you've got one now. Good diggings.

I actually have hundreds of old buttons from my 6 years of detecting. My collection grows!! :occasion14:

Great finds, I like the copper, you might want to try a hydrogen peroxide bath to clean the copper, pm me if you'd like to know how. Last week I found an 1801 capped bust penny and you could see the front,
but the back was toast. So I took some advise from someone on tnet and was able to clean the coin up a bit without disturbing the patina of the coin.Happy hunting, I'm from ma. also.:icon_thumleft:

1801 capped bust... NICE. My earliest American penny is only 1810. I long for the day to see some flowing hair....

As far as the hyd peroxide. I have used this method... a TON. (successfully and unsuccessfully) It has the potential to make the coin worse, or better... it's a gamble really. I am really nervous to do anything with this copper as far as cleaning goes, but if I do, I will be sure to post some cleaned pictures of it.

Nice to see you are doing well in MA, Dale!

love the buttons

Thanks! Are you visiting or relocating?

Just visiting for a 2-day detecting marathon. My first New England hunt!

Love those finds!
Glad to see you made friends so quick up there.

Well, good luck to you sir! Remember, not every stone wall leads to a cellar hole... but some do.
