He lost his ring somewhere in a farmers field planting crops. When he told me that I tensed up. He asked if he could borrow a metal detector, and so I lent him the Garrett ACE 400i. He headed back out to the farm field where he was planting, and like "wow".......he found it! What a lucky guy.

Small coil, large field, yes he was very lucky.

I had an uncle lose his wedding band when hard clamming in MA. Over 20 years later, clamming in the same area, he saw a glint of gold on a tine of his clam rake - yup, he caught his ring. He had lost a leg in WWII and probably should not have even been out in a small boat in a tidal river alone anyway.
