I just finished year number 18 of detecting. My year runs from May 1 (when I started detecting in 2002) and ends April 30. This year was my best fourth best and I did a decent job. (my best was $1232.80 with second best $851.68) My coin and money total would have been better, but the pandemic kept me away from some of my best spots for the last 5 weeks.

The totals for the year are as follows:
688 hours of detecting using the CZ21 and the ATPro
12,758 coins with a face value of $824.40 including: 9 foreign coins, 3 Indian heads, 2 large cents, 2 British coppers

Total lifetime coins 129,079

Silver.....41 coins, 32 rings, 4 chains, 27 earrings, 18 earring backs, 18 other miscellaneous pieces

Gold.....18 rings, 3 chains, 18 earrings, 3 earring backs, 1 gold teeth, 8 other miscellaneous pieces

8 class rings with 4 returns
30 civil war bullets
6 civil war buttons

Of course I have found lots of other jewelry that is not gold or silver and plenty of interesting pieces not worth listing.

Thanks for looking. Stay safe and keep swingin. Good luck to all and HH.

Tommy it is really hard to say what my favorite find is because I have been lucky and have found some really cool stuff from civil war cannon balls to $4,000 diamond rings. I guess the most special find was made 5 months after I started. I found what I thought was a cob coin. A jeweler said it was not silver and was probably a replica. So I put it away (I don’t throw stuff away very often) and a few years later I took it to a shipwreck museum at the beach. They told me it was the real deal, a Mexico City mint Philip the fifth 4 reale cob, minted between 1700 and 1730 (the date was worn off). I was still new to the hobby and a cob is a big deal and 4 reales are not common so it is special and always will be. I can still walk onto the field where I found it near a tree and show you where it was found.

Thanks Tommy. Stay safe and keep swingin.

Way to go TNT hunter!!!! Some absolutely stellar finds .

An outstanding year, IMO. May you have another successful run. I am impressed with your record keeping. :notworthy:

Impressive numbers and finds for your year. If your average hunt is 4 hours that means you got out about 172 times, which is amazing considering the type of weather you get in western Maryland.

I keep a data base with some of the info and a photo log of all the better finds. I guess it is the archeologist wanna be part of me (as a kid I wanted to be an archeologist). Thanks, stay safe and keep swingin.
