I retired after 47 years and come out every once in a while and make mad money! Rode as a Capt. enough now just do the pilots watch

I bet you have seen a lot of boats in distress and a lot of accidents. Have you had to save anyone ?

In my 44 years in the pilot house I've had maybe 3 or 4 minor incidents and never have had the USCG board me due to an accident. I have assisted other vessels in distress but very few. You have to be able to tell if you are about to get your self in a bad situation before it becomes a Oh crap moment!!

Illinois River 8 loaded barges and 4 empty, loaded ones are Chicago bound , Empties with be dropped at grain facilities to be loaded and picked up on our south bound trip. I'd rather be on the Upper Mississippi headed for St Paul it's what I call a day killer! It usually takes over 2 weeks to make a round trip from St Louis/ St Paul.
