My yard just gave me a 1849 large cent

2nd oldest coin out of my yard. 3rd large cent I have found this year. Others are 1810 and 1818

Just imagine what must have been going on in your yard back then, maybe a settler was being chased by a few Indians and that coin fell out of his pocket. It tumbled out of his pocket and landed on the ground... where it stayed for the next 150 years until you found it.

Great find. Sounds like a nice old yard you have. My own little yard surprised me with a 1832 Nova Scotia token,1914 Canadian large cent and a silver 1873 Newfoundland five cent piece. Plus my father in laws lost wedding ring that I didn't even know he lost. Or maybe he just told me he lost it and took it? 🤔

My house dates back to the mid 1800's........and the oldest coin my yard has given up is a '58D Wheat.........
