These look a lot like coins from the old Indian Princely States, only I don't recall them being that thick.

At the site I mentioned above (Numista), if you look under the section India, Indian Princely States and Kingdoms, there are 1900 varieties to choose from. Of those, I'd say you could rule out 3/4 of them because they are gold or silver. Of the remaining coins, the ones that look closest to these are usually the older ones, ranging from the 600's to 1500's. All are very crudely made hammered coins. I got you in the ballpark, but you'll have to find the ball!
