Mystery Button in South Carolina

Hi all,

I’m in SC this week with my brother for a detecting trip!

We hit an old field this morning (exact history unconfirmed) and I found this shankless button.

I was wondering if anyone recognized the design? I can make out a couple letters here and there but can’t figure out all the writing.

Thank you, I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’s a confederate Civil War button. It certainly could be in this area!

Found it! The internet is an unbelievable place. Early 1800s British civilian button.
