i think the aqua color has happened over time, could have been clear years ago...

It is a lightning jar lid. These were patented in 1882 but were made for many years thereafter. Yours looks like a common one from the turn of the century or a little later. Google lightning jar and you will see these closures, I still keep them all, they came in different sizes for different sizes jars.
