Short hunt today but pulled this item. Can?t tell if it is a button or maybe a knob , pretty heavy size of a quarter . Any help much appreciated

Oil lamp wick adjuster knob.

I have never seen a wick adjuster that heavily constructed or with a back like that.

I'm leaning more towards it being the center medallion off of a mushroom knob or glass door knob.
