Friend bought land that used to be farm. I helped him move and I HAD TO try my hand at picking the barn like the guys on American Pickers.
Found two things, both look like old stoneware and were half-buried. I cleaned them up nice and they actually look like new.
First one to identify is the jug. Pictures attached. No markings of any kind except the blue logo (which looks like a number 2 and a letter coinciding in the same space).
Did I find a worthless but cool decoration for my kitchen or did I find the means for paying off my student loan? Please respond with an answer (a good one if possible!)

2 gallon wiskey crock type jug - cool worth a few bucks but not going to make ya rich.

Expected as much. Considering it was a novice's first pick and it was a free local pick I'd say overall, beginner's luck, eh?

Anyway, second item found at this barn was also made of stoneware.... same material as the jug... but it's wide open and doesn't taper at the top... it's almost like a crock pot in shape, and very wide and deep... just a little wider than the jug and the jug fits inside it like a glove. What is its purpose? Does it go together with the jug or is it completely for a separate purpose? (have to ask because the jug fits in it so nicely and if they do go together having both would probably increase the set value, but I am not counting on being so lucky)
If it's a dumb question, forgive me. Going into a hobby of picking I need to learn all I can and dumb questions are how we learn.

The other item is a stoneware crock, used for pickling or storage for grain or what have you, probably had a lid at one time. Not related to the jug in the sense that they were made to be used together, just made out of the same material. Usually the more decorated the more valuable.

as said above the second jug is a pickling vat *( most likely had a lid thats missing )-- used with vinager to pickle - cucumbers into pickles and cabbage into sauerkraut and such --the fancier the looks the more it worth as a general rule.

Y'all are both right, but I'm glad Ivan included kraut. And crock pickles-----UMMMMMM! My wife's father's people are Germans from Russia, and sometimes by March or so, all there was left to eat was kraut and salt port. Salt cabbage and salt pork---enough to kill a modern guy.
