My grandmother gave me this rock. She lived in Wyoming near a spot where we found a bunch of meteorites but is not magnetic. I have long been curious what it is. It’s about as big as my fist and is very heavy. It’s black and green.*

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like Serpentine. Very common in the Siskiyou's here in SW OR.

Serpentine as stated or possibly nephrite jade. I have a big boulder of it from your area.

Welcome to tnet!
I would go along with the nephrite jade, it is well known to be found in Wyoming.

Is it worth anything? I cannot find an image of either the nephrite jade or serpentine that looks like this rock. Thank you so much for weighing in. You’ve given me some options to explore. :)
